Cheese Knife Set

Cheese knives can come in all different shapes, sizes and designs, and manufactured from several kinds of materials. It is customarily known as a kitchen tool designed specifically for cutting blocks of cheese into slices. A cheese Knife is quite unlike any other knife that has a handle and a blade, except the material and the design of blade are somewhat different. And, you don’t want to confuse a cheese knife with a cheese slicer, even though they both serve the same basic purpose.

A cheese slicer usually has a slender handle with two tines at the top that are spread apart, like a wishbone or slingshot shape. A wire is stretched tight between the two tines, and this tightened wire is then drawn through the cheese making nicely uniformed cut slices.

A cheese knife is different in that the handle is usually thicker and intended to be held in the same way as a standard knife. However, the cheese Knife Blade is almost in the reverse shape of a typical knife, since it starts out thinner at the top of the handle and gradually widens as it reaches the tip of the blade. Typically also, the blade of a cheese knife is usually somewhat square in shape, instead of being tapered or curved. A cleaver would be somewhat of a similar design.

There are also various sized holes in the cheese knife blade. This helps to make cutting the cheese much easier by preventing the knife from sticking to the cheese. Stainless steel is probably the top choice of materials used to make cheese knives. That’s because stainless steel makes it easier for the cheese to slide off the blade without getting stuck. This feature also helps make it possible to cut uniformly sized and shaped pieces of cheese that are undamaged in any way. This is absolutely essential for any chef, since presentation is equally as important as the taste.

Besides being perfect for cutting cheese, a cheese knife is also a great choice for cutting hard-boiled eggs, cakes, and even butter. Basically, if you’re having trouble cutting something with a regular knife, try using a cheese knife. Because of its unique design it just might keep that dish from sticking and make life much easier.
