The Air Force 499 Survival Knife is used Quite extensively by the U.S. Air Force and the U.S. Army, and it’s considered the standard by which all other survival knives are measured against. The Air Force 499 Survival Knife comes with a dull, rust resistant finish and is made of carbon steel. The Air Force Survival Knife has a butt end made of steel so that it can be used for hammering. and the cross guard has two strategic holes in it that allows you to make a spear for hunting food and protection. The overall length of the entire knife is 9-1/2″, with a 5″ blade. It has a leather sheath with a belt loop and plenty of holes which let’s you to tie it down to almost anything and in about any position.
